There are different routes to profitable and sustainable milk production. A booklet of factsheets for individual Pilot Farms participating in the EuroDairy Network has been compiled. This provides an overview of the diversity in dairy farming across Europe, reflected in a range of conditions and farming systems from high-input indoor systems, to low-input pasture-based production, regional differences in forage production, variations in crop rotation, approach to animal husbandry and connectivity with consumers.
